Position Title:  Business Intelligence Administrator

Position Type: Exempt, Full Time, Salary

Position Summary:

This is an opportunity to contribute to a project at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) by working with the Data Visualization Services (DVS) team that leads the enterprise-wide strategic direction and operational execution of commercial off the shelf (COTS) Business Intelligence (BI) visualization and analytics tools (currently Qlik Sense and Microsoft Power BI).

We are looking for a BI Administrator to join the DVS team who can provide technical expertise, direction, and operational support for the BI software in place. Our BI Administrator will be responsible for the availability, scalability, and future direction of the various technical BI environments deployed at USACE.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide end-to-end technical expertise and knowledge in support of architecture, design, security, and installation of the Qlik Sense and/or Power BI products.
  • Publish, reload, duplicate, import and delete Qlik Sense and/or Power BI applications.
  • Configure and administer Qlik Sense sites using Qlik Management Console (QMC) or similar Power BI administration tool.
  • Create security rules to control content and access to applications, tasks, streams, etc.
  • Research, test, install, and manage data connection and 3rd party visualization extensions.
  • Configure and manage central and rim nodes in a clustered Windows Virtual Machine environment.
  • Synchronize content across development, test, and production environments both internal and public facing.
  • Install patches and upgrades of Qlik Sense and/or Power BI.
  • Manage tasks and triggers for Qlik Sense and/or Power BI applications.
  • Troubleshoot issues regarding user accounts, access, data visualizations, display issues, streams, and performance.
  • Provide Tier 2 Help Desk support via email, phone, and virtual help to customers and with internal team members.
  • Track metrics regarding performance (e.g. users, applications, server) to enable continuous improvement.
  • Train users on how to use the Qlik Sense and/or Power BI tools for reporting and data visualization to include communicating best practices.
  • Assist with the evangelization and knowledge sharing of Qlik Sense and Power BI throughout the organization.
  • Translate business and functional requirements to technical specifications.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation of standards and best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with customer and VerticalApps policies & procedures, safety, state and federal laws, regulations, and standards.

Leadership:

  •  Provide innovative solutions to complex functional problems that impact customer success.
  • Lead the completion of tasks and guide the junior-level team members.
  • Lead and participate in Technical Challenges contributing towards the growth of the company.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal activities.
  •  Create and implement development standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • US citizenship required.
  •  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  •  Active DoD Secret Clearance, and, if no clearance, must agree to go through Secret background clearance check.
  • Qlik Sense or similar system (i.e. Power BI, Tableau, SAP Business Objects, Share Point, MicroStrategy, etc.) Administration certification or database administration certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification and, if no certification, must obtain Security+ certification within 60 days of start date

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  •  Mid-Senior level experience working with the Qlik Sense, Power BI, or similar BI product in a large-scale enterprise environment.
  •  At least 2 years of Qlikview, Qlik Sense, Power BI, or similar BI product Administration experience.
  •  Experience with Qlik Management Console (QMC) or similar BI administration tool.
  •  Qlik Sense or similar BI site administration (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, SAP Business Objects, Share Point, MicroStrategy, etc.) and management experience.
  •  Experience with Qlik NPrinting Designer & Management, if applicable.
  •  An understanding of Qlik or similar BI tool data modeling and access control modeling (section access).
  •  Knowledge of system security techniques.
  •  Must have strong understanding of relational database (SQL Server, Oracle) development and administration.
  • Exposure to large databases (1 TB+) and heavy database loads.
  • Knowledge of Windows system administration and Identity & Access Management protocols.
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience with data connections and SQL queries.
  •  Knowledge of developments in data architecture, data modeling, data design, and related processes.
  • Understanding of database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (extract, transform, load) framework.
  • Understanding of networks, network connections, and cloud computing
  •  Understanding of various computing environments including client-server and internet platforms.
  •  A strong grasp of the current and emerging developments in BI solutions.
  •  Strong user-orientation, and ability to work well with a team of diverse staff in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, adjust quickly to changing priorities, and execute while under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, negotiate and resolve conflict.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including proven ability to communicate and explain complex issues in clear, concise and persuasive language.
  • Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.
  •  Successful experience working with demanding customers, other contractors, and 3rd party vendors in order to accomplish a goal.
  • Understanding of Agile methodology and Scrum environments.
